Blackadder Goes Forth, The Play

Jason Fraser

It is 1917 on the Western Front of World War I, and Captain Edmund Blackadder of the British Army finds himself trapped in the trenches with another "big push" planned. His concern is to avoid being sent over the top to his certain death. 'Blackadder Goes Forth, The Play' chronicles Blackadder's attempts to escape the trenches through various schemes, most of which fail due to bad fortune, misunderstandings and the general incompetence of his comrades. Based on the popular television series of the same name, the production also features the idealistic Upper-Class Edwardian twit Lieutenant George, the profoundly stupid but dogged Private S. Baldrick, the eccentric and clearly mad General Melchett and his bureaucratic assistant Captain Kevin Darling, plus many other memorable characters.
